UK Statues & Memorials

A bit Royal

A king or two (separated by a few years and lineage), a king to be and a queen’s consort in all their splendour. Have to get me a few more down the track.

A bit famous

A range of those that were made famous through events such as war, politics, tending to the ill and even venturing where few had trekked before (no not Captain Kirk).

And a bit of everything

Be it royal, engineering, singing, war, literature or even creating the first postage, it’s heartening that history remembers (even though some deeds remain controversial). Never let the past remain in the past.

UK War Memorials

Britain is home to numerous war memorials that honor the sacrifices made by soldiers and civilians in various conflicts throughout history. These memorials serve as poignant reminders of the cost of war and the importance of remembering those who served and lost their lives.

Monuments & Columns

The British can certainly produce a great column or monument when they put their minds to it. Be it for a person, a war memorial or even a great fire, they are majestic and memorable. The images below are mainly found in London with a few located in other areas of Britain.

England 1966 World Cup

Well this is the time it really did come home. The statue, officially known as “The Champions”, depicts England’s captain, Bobby Moore holding aloft the Jules Rimet Trophy. Located near the site of Upton Park the former home of West Ham, it remembers a time when British football ruled supreme.
